Hero of the Year
CNN Hero of the Year 2009 is Efren Penaflorida. He started a ‘pushcart classroom’ in the Philippines to provide an alternative to gang membership and bring education to poor children who are scavenging in landfills. Efren will receive $100,000 to continue his work, after he was selected in seven weeks of online voting at CNN.com. Watch his video here and his speech here.

One day
Matisyahu is a Hasidic Jewish musician from New York City known for blending traditional Jewish themes with reggae, rock, and hip-hop sounds. Five decades on, Dr. Goodall is now a tireless campaigner for conservation and environmental causes. Good News Day
Friday November 6th will be special! Than Newspiration will launch the third edition of the Good News Day in the Netherlands. Last year 24 Dutch media participated that all offered much more good news on this one day. Since this Good News Day is such a big success in the Netherlands, we would like to launch the first International Good News Day in 2010. Read more
The Vatican ends world hunger
Today is World Food Day and comedian Sarah Silverman found thé solution for world hunger: “What is the Vatican worth, like 500 billion dollars? This is great, sell the Vatican, take a big chunk of the money, build a new gorgeous condominium for you and all your friends to live in…and with the money left over, feed the whole world.” Watch this remarkable video here.

This is a new multimedia movement created to inspire, connect, and bring peace to the world through music. The idea for this project arose from a common belief that music has the power to break down boundaries and overcome distances between people.
